Acts of Kindness

Picture
“Kindness is a gift everyone can afford to give” – unknown
At a time when border and immigration policies are constantly in the international headlines, this week a border customs officer became a national hero. After encountering a family whose car had broken down on the border between Dubai and Muscat in Oman, the officer gave the family his car keys and insisted they continue their family holiday in his Toyota Land Cruiser. The kind deed was revealed after the family publicly thanked the officer on a radio station.

Question:
What might be the outcome in your community, if your church congregation were encouraged to do one act of kindness each week?

Celebrate What's Working Well

According to one estimate, the Shah of Iran spent more than $200 million celebrating the 2500th anniversary of the Persian Empire with celebrities and world leaders. The celebration took place near the ancient location of Esther’s Palace where guests feasted for five and a half hours. A tent city was constructed on 160 acres and 50,000 songbirds were imported to inhabit the specially created gardens.
Churches don’t have or need budgets to celebrate in the same way, but it is important that we celebrate anniversaries, the completion of major projects, and on a daily basis, what is working well.

Question:
What is the most exciting thing you can celebrate in ministry this past month?

Overcoming Self Doubt

“Doubt kills more dreams than failure ever will"
Every leader in history experienced self-doubt during their lifetime. In fact, even after accomplishing great things, many high performing leaders struggle with thoughts of incompetence. One of the most famous painters in history, Leonardo Da Vinci, who is famous for painting The Last Supper, wrote in a personal journal, “Tell me if I ever did a thing”.

Question:
What are some of the most common thoughts you face that challenge your abilities?
